Business Challenge
The client needed statistics when their application started to lag and crash, to ensure smooth running of the application when accessed by multiple members simultaneously.
Solution
he client was using a multifunctional employee engagement platform where they discussed internal issues, engagement and activities for their approximately 10,000 employees working worldwide. At any point of time, whenever more than a certain number of employees accessed the application, it started lagging and at some point, it crashed completely. The client wanted to determine the exact count at which both these things happen.
We proposed a solution to do a performance testing on the app. Here, we made batches of virtual users and added them in the application by segregating 100 users at a time, to determine the statistics from when it starts exhibiting the faulty behavior. The tool that we used for performing this test was Blaze Meter.
Results
We discovered that the app started slowing down when more than 700 users accessed at the same time, and crashed after crossing the count of 3000. Based on this data, client’s development team got an idea of how they needed to fix this, which was to be done mostly by increasing their resources and fixing the code.
